The exact method to use to download files (usually a GEDCOM file) from this site depends upon which browser you are using. Here is a list of a few browsers that I have tested.
Netscape: To download files using Netscape is easy. First, simply enter onto the page that you wish to download. Next, with the file you wish to download being displayed, click the "File" option on the menu bar. Click on the "Save As..." option, rename the file and choose a different directory (folder) if you desire. Click "Ok" and the file will be saved.
Internet Explorer: To download files using Microsoft's Internet Explorer follow the directions above for Netscape.
Lynx: Lynx is a popular text based browser that many people prefer. Downloading files using Lynx is easy too. First, display the file you wish to download, then, press the "D" key. You will immediately be placed into the "Store in your personal workspace or download" menu screen. Choose for the file to be saved as "data" so that it will NOT be saved as formatted for the screen. You may rename the file after it is transferred.
Other Browsers: To download files using other browsers should be no more difficult than described above. Simply look for those features that provide the above described functions. A good place to look is in your browser's help documentation.
